In light of my lack of post-able entrees here, I thought I'd give you a glimpse of something and someone very cool indeed.
One of my brothers called my attention to artist Peter Cree and his gorgeous work painting stringed instruments. The article in the link unfortunately doesn't allow us to enlarge the photos, but you get the idea.
Cree painstakingly removes original finish from the instrument, then begins his artwork in even-more-painstaking layers. The finished guitar or mandolin becomes both an instrument that has apparently retained its sound integrity and a beautiful work of art.
I'm always excited and inspired when I see artists who use their talents in innovative ways.
