Wow! This is quite amazing. I don't know if the illus. dept still does the combining two cartoon characters, but it reminds me of that. I always thoroughly enjoyed seeing those.
The textural detail here kind of reminds me of conceptual illustrations by Terryl Whitlatch from Star Wars.
Maureen -- Good eye. Yes, the illo dept still does the cartoon character mash-up, which was the bane of my existence last year. (I was not alone.) This year it's the combine-two-or-more-animal assignment, which I like better. At least so far. This is a study for that assignment.
